From 17 to 25 October the Dutch Design Week was organised in Eindhoven. The 14th Dutch Design week in Eindhoven attracted more than 275,000 visitors.
Our office in Strijp-S is located right in the center of the Dutch Design week. We visited het klokgebouw where we viewed new inventions by mostly local designers. There were also displays of the new self driving cars by Volvo. We had the opportunity to sit in a prototype interior of a self driving car. We were happy to see all the new developments regarding recycling.
We visited Strijp-R where you can find the atelier of a few young artists. One of the designers there is Jet’s cousin. It was great to have a look inside the atelier of the design duo rENs, we especially loved the carpets designed in partnership with Desso and Simon loved the colour experimentation’s they have been doing were they overlap different colours to see its effects, see the picture below. We also visited the massive atelier of Piet Hein Eek. We recently found out he is working with Ikea to bring out a product line.
If you are in the area of Eindhoven it is certainly worthwhile to visit the newly opened Vershal Het Veem located in Strijp-S. In Vershal Het Veem we found all these little merchants selling foods as wine and nuts, coffee, Indonesian food, dutch pepernoten, special cheeses, pancakes and so on. We couldn’t resist and enjoyed some delicious pancakes.
